{"id":3694,"date":"2017-02-06T07:14:33","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T07:14:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sunkrish.com\/?p=3694"},"modified":"2017-02-06T07:15:12","modified_gmt":"2017-02-06T07:15:12","slug":"the-govt-has-revised-40-tax-treaties-for-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sunkrish.com\/index.php\/2017\/02\/06\/the-govt-has-revised-40-tax-treaties-for-information\/","title":{"rendered":"The govt has revised 40 tax treaties for information"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sunkrish.com\/index.php\/2017\/02\/06\/the-govt-has-revised-40-tax-treaties-for-information\/tax-treaties\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3695\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3695 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sunkrish.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Tax-Treaties-300x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sunkrish.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Tax-Treaties-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sunkrish.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Tax-Treaties.jpg 318w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>India has revised 40 treaties for avoidance of double taxation so that the information exchanged with partner nations on tax matters can also be utilised for other purposes including criminal proceedings, Parliament was informed today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTreaty partner countries have been requested to modify the tax treaties, so as to explicitly include provisions that will enable information exchanged for tax purposes to be utilised for other purposes, including criminal proceedings in non-tax matters,\u201d Minister of State for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c40 treaties for avoidance of double taxation have been revised accordingly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Gangwar said, India has signed \u201cthe Multilateral Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters, which also similarly facilitates exchange of information\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>These developments enable use of such information by non-tax agencies, subject to agreement by the Competent Authorities of the Requested Contracting State, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Replying to a separate question, Gangwar said the Enforcement Directorate has provisionally attached assets of worth Rs 9,298 crore in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said that as per estimate over 2,000 tonnes of gold is held by household, trusts and various institutions in India.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freepressjournal.in\/\/the-govt-has-revised-40-tax-treaties-for-information\/1012899\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.freepressjournal.in\/\/the-govt-has-revised-40-tax-treaties-for-information\/1012899<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India has revised 40 treaties for avoidance of double taxation so that the information exchanged with partner nations on tax matters can also be utilised for other purposes including criminal proceedings, Parliament was informed today. \u201cTreaty partner countries have been &hellip;
